Mongkey Beach @ National Park Penang

The Monkeys Welcoming us!

From the waterfall exit, we took the bus to Teluk Bahang to go to Penang national park! We registered our names in the counters for free entrance! Then we asked the free map, review our next destination.. here it's Monkeys Beach.. hmm.. about 1500 meters, take times around 1.5-2hours to reach there.

I observed the faces of my Iranian tracking buddies! They look okay.. still survive and ready with a little bit lazy looks thinking about this tracking, another 1.5 hours walking man.. hehhehe.. But it's already set up and agreed. After registering our names, we start our tracking from the main entrance of National Park!

Along the tracking, the jungle paths are nice a little bit challenging, environment very nice and cold weather, we are rounding the beach through the jungle path, and humidity higher here. We passed by the USM Coastal Research Center area already, it's still about half way to go! It's a nice research center, just in the middle of jungles and just opposite is a beautiful beach with white sands and small nice pier.

My Iranian tracking buddies, start talking in Persian, Then I asked them, If they still want to continue until the Monkey beach or ending here. Most of them said, yeah we will proceed further to Monkey beach. Well We continue our tracking! the further the path more natural, and many big trees along with the strong roots appeared in the surface of the lands. While we come closer to the beach, the Monkeys welcoming us. Some monkeys blocking our ways, but while They saw us, They are running, climbing the trees, try to avoid us.. Their brothers and sisters :) hehehe

The monkeys here are tames enough, not as wild as in Bali, where the Monkeys like to grasp your things and return it when you feed them. :) So, it's always good not to feed them, let them feed by themselves in the natural way! We took some photos and videos of the monkeys then continue our tracks. Finally, we are here... nice and white sand beach!.. As my plan to go swim.. so, I'll :)

At Monkey beach, we are resting for a while. Our female Iranian trackers - the leader, the only female joint us, prepared some bread with vegetables, so we ate that nan. Then I'm going to have my swimming after so long! On way back we decided to rent a boat to go back to the harbor of Teluk Bahang! I Enjoy my swimming.. here at the Monkey Beach.

Why do I need to go to PANGKOR ?

Unegh.. Capek Deh.. VS PANGKOR!

Though this all studying stuffs starting made me unegh.. NEGHHH NEGHH.. ahghhh (what's the english yeah guysss? monotonous, tedious ... translate please :) hehehe. Yeah, the delay of my data collection, the slow processing of my grants research applications, the rejection of my small research grants from my dean.. ahggggggg capek dehhhhhh.... translate lagi ya :) hehehe..

Hmm.. I need a break.. am I over productive? and endeavor all that things possible? Hence the deadline also very stern. By end of this month I need to completed my data collection for small research regarding the perseption of microcredit recipients in Pulau Penang, (self funding.. hu hu hu).. Then after raya.. I planned to attend the conference and present my paper in the conference.. wow..sounds GREAT yeah.. BRAVO.. bravo and mamamiyah lezato. It's all for the shake of gaining experiences as I don't have this kind of experiences yet.. hmmm...

Then my 2nd Research regarding the use of Qadrul Hassana / Free interest banking approach for marginal community at Kampong Cham - Cambodia." this one more interesting and challenging topic for me. I will try to find the funding for this research and if I got it, perhaps I will start to visit Cambodia again.. SIEMREAP again.. Kampong Cham.. hehehehe... but.. still no news. Yesterday.. I already send many email (over 15) to inquiry about the possibility to get funding for my 2nd Research, still one reply explained that sorry couldn't :) wow.. see.. rejection.. REJECTION.. just smile.. with rejection.. and don't give up ... TULANG.. .. jangan Menyerah oih TULANG.. hehehhe keluar pulak Batakku..

Sometimes, I fully frustated with all this rejection, the slow process etc.. etc.. but.. that's the reality.. well..welcome to the jungle..I said.. :) and just nyengir lah..he HE HE HE ..

Well, it's okaylah.. I Think that's some reason why I need a break and go to Pangkor island ..and slowdown a bit meanwhile waiting the responds for my research grants funding.

Pangkorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.. I'm coming.. hehehe.. never been to Pangkor Island yet.. I want to see, how is the beach, sands, water, food, people, guesthouses, etc etc.... and not forgetting to start drafting my paper there for.. 3days... though it will be enough and usefull restoration for my mind and spirit..... Welcome to Pangkor.. I better get ready now.. Cheers.

Run away Hiker go to Tanjung Bunga Beach

Feeling a bit tired today.. ahggg too much thinking :) hehehe

Some hikers friends invited me to joint the hike to Penang Hill again. Considered how I try to survive from previous Hiking, unfit condition and being lazy today I decided to run away from the hike :) Beside I'm willing to see the sunset at the beach.

So, the team living to Penang hill without me, wish them enjoy the hiking, and I am going a head to the Tanjung Bunga beach. I took rapid bus No.101 for 2Rm until the Island plaza. I would like to do some rest at the gym first then in the afternoon have my walk to Tanjung Bunga beach.

Around 4pm, I am ready to make a move with my MP3, a bottle of water then camera .. I starting to walk. Started point from Island Plaza to the Tanjung Bunga beach. It's a little bit warm.. but don't care.. a bit sweating but who care.. It's nice and I'm planning to swim in the beach later.

In about 20mnts, I arrived at the Tanjung Bungah beach just near by with Chinese Swimming Pool Club. It's strong wind around the beach, the tidal movement increase to the edge of beach.
I continue walking at the end corner of the beach. There are some new nice sky scrapers building nowadays just beside the beach.

Some local peoples swimming, doing picnic, or just jogging around. Others are studying to play the wind boat, and little surfing. Taken some photos for lovely readers to view, how is this beach look like.

Then I swam a while. The water not clear and sandy, but it's okay. It's warm water. I decided to continue my walk back to Island plaza through the beach side. I am approaching the Tanjung Tokong beach first by passing the rocky spots of the beach..

Bye Sihanoukville and Welcome Seam Reap

Missing the Beaches at Sihanoukville already. A week staying there, and exploring some of the beutiful beaches around.. now time to say goodbye.. for the beaches.. and go ahead to the thousands pagoda city at Siem Riep. Spent a nite in Phnom Phen, then on 13 April 2010 go ahead to Seam Reap. Due to the Khmer New Year season, the fare ticket could be double. Normal price only 4USD, then I pay for 7.5USD.. hmmm alamak..

The journeys take times about 6hours more for 325km distances. This bus stopped 2 to 3 times for resting. The bus depart on 1.10pm and arrived at Seam Reap on 7.30pm. The bus stopped 5km far from the city (old market) area. Next I took tuk tuk to go to Old market to find my budget accommodation. The Tuk Tuk is quiet cheap with a little bit bargain costly around 0.75USD.

I Arrived at the Garden Village guesthouse.,A budget accommodation with many range of room option started from 1USD till 15USD. After having shower and resting a bit, I go to the nite market and old market to find my dinner.

3USD Barbeque @ Serendipity Beach

3USD Barbeque at Serendipity Beach

Today our last nite in Sihanoukville. We will take a double deck tourist bus to go back to Phnom Pehn for 5USD fare. We rent a motor cycle for 3USD a day, and filled up 1 liter gasoline for travel around the city of Sihanoukville, the Psar Leu market, bus stand as well as the victory hill and beach.

We are checking the bus ticket fare in the bus stands, price mostly rise up due to the peak season for Khmer New Year starting from 13-15April 2010. We decided to take the bus from our guest house as the price almost the same and provide pick up service from the guest house, so we don't need to go to bus stand tomorrow.

The ride from one beach to another beach seems shorter. They drive on the right side here . Due to I am coming from the left side driven country, it's a bit confusing for me. Never stop my navigator who sit behind remind me about right RIGHT RIGHT man.. remember.. right RIGHT RIGHT side..... hehehe.

After seightseing and expecting beautiful sunset at Victory beach, we stopped at Night market located around the Lion Golden Circle. I would like to see the Khmer show of eating Pontir Cone. Around 7.30 pm we arrived in the guesthouse, take shower, continue writing my blog and go to the beach for our 3USD dinner.

We ate barbeque at the restorant beside the fortune beach. Fresh air, nice rottan chairs to sit and relax. The 3USD package of barbeque adequate plenty much. The set including, bread, salad, potatoes, sauce, two squirts, two prawns and slice of tuna fish as well as free small glass of Angkor beer.. wow wow what a food.. eventhough by seeing the food make us hungry again.. hehehe..

The dinner times so quiet, we are busy with our own food, meanwhile the dogs shop owner running around the beach, and the corridors of our table path. We need to protect the food from the tricky dogs that probably will steal our 3USD barbeque sets. :) Not even 15mnts we done with our food.. wow.. WHAT a food.. mamamiyah lezato.. tasteful seafood.. We just realized that for that set of barbeque menu, the price is reasonable with nice atmosphere at the sea side.

We took dinner about 1.5 hours starting from 9.30pm until 11pm we backed to our room. I continue browsing internet and blogging.. This lovely blogging activity starting become addicted to me. I try to pursue one blog a day in any chance where I can go online. Hmmmm.. I'm sleepy now. Tomorrow we need to visit one more beach before returning the bike.. and get ready to Phnom Pehn.. see you all with another.. blog.. Hope you enjoy the photos and the writing.

Hunting the sunset @ Independence Beach in Sihanoukville

Hunting the sunset @ Independence Beach in Sihanoukville

From the end of Sokha beach we continue walking a head to the fisherman village. What a problamatic view against the beautiful Sokha beach. The village looks poor and slightly dirty. Most of the wall of the house constructed by the combination of the unused zink and woods. The floors are originally from the earth itself, no cements, no cheramics typical poor citizenship in Sihanoukville.

The wayout we passed by also smelly, a local cambodian comment " what a smell shit, don't they have toilet so the shit anywhere" I just smile with no comment.. hehehe.

Just a about 10mnts walk we came to the gate of the isolated part of Independences beach. We request permission to enter the beach for some shots of sunset photos from the local people that eye watching that place.

We make a quick look to the Independence beach.. that's still look not independence yet ;) It's look a bit dirty at the place we visited. We don't go further along the beach as the time getting dark. The moon switch off the sun soon. Things surrounding getting dark. For our safety reason we decided to go back to our guest house at Ochheuteal beach through the main road... and who knows we may be able to get hitchhiking.. :)

Hmm.. Getting thirsty, around the main road we try to find the drinking water. It's costly 0.25cents USD for a small bottle of water.... glud glud glud... the water feel best. To endure walking by the main road, looks so quiet and dark, as they don't have road lamps. Not so many cars get through the road.. Ohhhh My GOD.. a lesson for the future try to avoid to do seight seing at the late time especially walking by on food :)

Eventually.. Thanks God, we arrived safely at Sokha beach. The way through the main road is taking longer. In our normal walking speed with a dark road we manage to arrived at sokha beach for 30-40mnts.. huh huh.. huh another lesson learn for next time better use the same road that we are familiar then the stranger dark road those we are not familiar with..

From the Sokha beach to the Golden Lion Traffic Circle just about 10mnts walk. We remain walking to our lovely APPLE guest house for some cleaning shower and food. We get starving earlier due to so much walking.

Apple guest house have lovely friendly staffs. One of the cookers, She provide us 1USD dinner with the menu (rice + 3pcs of fried fishes).. They cook in fresh hot terms, just well cooked.. wow.. mamamia yumminya.. lezato.. hahahha.. Oh God thanks, we don't need to walking out again to find our dinner.. It's just a step from our door.. the food ready.. mamamia lezato.. we are going to eat first.. and see you at Serenfidity beach later..:)

Today lesson learn:

1. Be active to talk with local people to find out where are we? and how are we going home? we are not getting lost for sure but if we know that there is a shorter way through the beach to go to Sokha beach from Independence beach, why should we the take the fucking main road way.. hehehe

2. Don't do sightseing too late, manage your time wisely, especially in the rural area where there is no road lamps.. dark man.. dark.. luckily got some naturals lights from the stars above the sky and remember we are walking on food.. jalan kaki bookkkkkkk exercise :)

3. I'ts not always bad to go and back on the same way, to familiar your way. Otherwise you will facing the strange ways that will take you longer as our experiences.

4. Always smile and nice to talking to people for directions even you are already knows the way for friendships..

5. Take your own lesson note :) SABAY nie.. sabay SABAY.. happy .. happy..
